Spring Denim

I put this look together the other day, and I must say that I finally realized my obsession with denim was increasing. I guess everyone has been pretty hyped out  about denim for some time now, from celebrities like Kate Upton to bloggers like Leandra Medine (aka Man Repeller). Jean fabric have long been a thing, and now people are spicing things up by layering two layers or more of denim. I personally love the idea of having either pants or shorts made from the fabric with a denim jacket to finish off the look. Since denim is pretty uniform, I like spicing things up a bit with an unexpected fabric, such as this lace top that I've been loving lately. Sunglasses, of course, are a definite must, especially since this Texan sun is sending UV rays through my eyeballs. Earrings are also a fantastic, slightly western spin on an otherwise classically typical assemble. The turquoise stone in the effortless design of these earrings adds some color as well.

Phil Oh Captures The Met Gala

This years Met Gala, in short, was quite something. Even though I loved the rebellious punk theme of last years event, the classic, "done" silhouette that was brought on by the Charles James theme was completely groundbreaking. However, I couldn't look at one Special Edition Best Dressed List without first looking at the gorgeous, casual photographs snapped by my favorite street style photographer, Phil Oh. The casual street style vibe combined with the refined elegance of the Met gave birth to images that captured the elegant but fun-loving crowd of the Met Ball.

Six Met Gala Worthy Ball Gowns Cause Photogenic Frenzy in NYC

The Met Gala is tonight, this time celebrating a new exhibit featuring the gorgeous work of the American coutureur Charles James. To chronicle the occasion, supermodels Hanne Gaby Odiele, Grace Mahary, Tilda Lindstam, Alana Zimmer, and Xiao Wen Ju stepped out in gorgeous Charles James-esque gowns to (temporarily) take over Manhattan. They did so, followed by what vogue.com described as "i-phone paparazzi". This is a collection of my favorite photographs taken of that time-period, in anticipation of tonight. Stay tuned for more Met posts!
